Welcome Members

Despite the damp and windy month of June, MYC members have their boats in the harbor and enjoyed many fun events. A healthy group of members learned and practiced useful CPR and First Aid skills at the seminar early in the month. We had a magnificent, sunny day for the Patton Bowl and a wide variety of MYC boats and others tested their racing skills in light air with swift moving currents.

As you pass through the club please take notice of the new paint and hard work by Jack Fadden and his staff. The facility floats and boats all look very good and reflect the time, energy and pride that the staff has put in over the past months. The new racing placards have been updated and are now in place around the upper walls of the MYC clubroom. These wonderful boards capture a special part of MYC’s racing and boating history and are now back in place for all to enjoy

July is full of activities and fun things to do at MYC. The Independence Day Barbeque is a prominent event and the popular Sunday Socials start right up. Racing events punctuate the calendar with the start of the Halifax Race, the Crocker Memorial Race, and the competitive one design racing in Megabytes and Rhodes 19s. The Junior Yacht Club jumps into high gear with activities in the evening and their first dance of the season. At either end of July, we bring the juniors and seniors together for some friendly racing competition in the Tiller race and then the Vaughan Challenge – please come and join these fun races and support your team! We all look forward to a sunny month of July and to seeing you at MYC.
