Presented by Rich Wilson Aboard his Open 60, Great American III, Rich Wilson was the only American, the only asthmatic, and the oldest skipper in the fleet to finish the Vendée Globe 2008-2009. Sailing 28,790 miles in 121 days, Wilson endured several serious injuries, hurricane force gales, an ascent up the 90’ mast, crushing fatigue, and fear as he braved the course from Les Sables d’Olonne, south and around the Cape of Good Hope, east across the Indian Ocean, around Cape Horn, and back up to Les Sables. It is a route that exposes sailors to icebergs, doldrums and some of the windiest stretches of ocean in the world. Two sailors have died competing in the Vendée; many more have had to be rescued.

The cost for this event is $65 per person, which includes your choice of Baked Haddock or Roast Pork Loin.

NB: The hotel parking lot is reserved for vehicles with a handicapped emblem and overnight guests. Parking is available at the Pickering Wharf Lot on Congress Street or at the City of Salem’s South Harbor Parking Garage.
